The question comes from time to time as to how to type French accents in Windows. A few tools have sprung up on the web, but I just want to share some further information that I put together a couple of years ago in case it is helpful:

Of course, which method will be most appropriate for you will depend on how often you need to work in French vs other languages and how much you need to actually type and how happy you are with using different keyboard layouts.
