Greetings all. I am new here. I am trying to fill out a form to order a digital copy of an illumination in a manuscript. The form asks for : <tomaison>
Can someone translate for me?
Thank you. Victoria

I just had a thought: could it be something to do with "tome" (volume, as in a book)?
A literary work ("ouvrage") can contain several volumes ("tomes").
"tomaison" indicates the number of one of these volumes.
Thank you!
Ryk,
What you say is interesting. In fact, I encountered the word on a form that I had to complete on the website of the Bibliotheque Nationale de France! So, it is a word still in use it would seem, but not a very common one. Upper class? Maybe.
