a similar  question was raised quite recently

 

" At the beginning of a fencing bout, the phrase is En garde! You're thinking of Touché! -- that's the cry when a hit is scored. It simply means touched.

Note that touché has been adopted in English to mark a metaphorical "hit" -- as when someone having an argument or discussion admits that the opposing point of view has scored a "point."
