i'm going through the discussions i initiated and making notes for study. these 2 were never answered.
consignes v. mode d’emploi
i know "mode d'emploi." is there a difference between "consignes" and "instructions"? is one used more than the other if they're the same? Tx
i have the example "nous nous sommes e'gare's" meaning "we're lost." "se perdre" is "to get lost." but when i looked at how to say "i'm lost" i saw one example that used "je me suis perdu" while all the others just said "je suis perdu." when u can't determine where u are in a city, do u say "je suis perdu" or "je me suis perdu"? Tx

"Consigne" is more imperative than "instruction".
Two are used in different situations.
At school, pupils have "consignes" to realize an exercise.
In a "mode d'emploi" there are "instructions"
If I am in a city, and I am lost.
I wanted to ask my way.
I ask : Je suis perdu. Je ne sais pas ou je suis.
It's a observation of a situation. I am lost.
If I want to explain to somebody what happened. I explain "Je me suis perdue" I was walking and I lost my way. It's an explanation, I relate what happened.
If you want to ask your way, the two are right.
Je suis perdu = I know I am lost somewhere, and you might help.
Je me suis perdu = I was walking and I take a wrong way, maybe you might help.
At school, pupils have "consignes" to realize an exercise.
me: realize isn't used the way the french use it. when u realize that u were wrong about sth., u just come to a recognition that u were wrong.
If you want to ask your way, the two are right.
me: both are right. never say "the both" though many people make this mistake. "the 2" is not wrong.
Je me suis perdu = I was walking and I take a wrong way, maybe you might help.
me: "i go the wrong way" or "i take a wrong turn"
I am going to begin a booknote for my poor memory ;-) thank you.
