use of il fault and devoir
Could some please tell me tha use of il fault and differentiate it from the verb devoir

In fact, il faut and devoir have a very close meaning.
The difference comes from the obligation hide behind.
Il faut que je fasse la vaisselle . I have to do the washing up whether or not I want to
Je dois faire la vaisselle. I should do the washing up but I still have the choice to do it or not.
