i learned it as "re'ussir a". maybe i copied this wrong, but i saw "je dois réussir mes examens." i just looked at a dictionary and while it does have "re'ussir a un examen" which is what i would say, i also saw "re'ussir ses e'tudes" and it doesn't say it's an expression. please clarify. Tx

Réussir is used alone or with "à", "en" and sometimes "dans".
J'ai essayé ce concours et j'ai réussi.
J'ai réussi ma tarte aux pommes.
with a verb after, there is "à". J'ai réussi à courir 100 mètres en 15 secondes.
sometimes there is "en" : j'ai réussi en maths
J'ai réussi à un examen" : it is an old form, i think it's the correct form (grammatically). But now we're used to say "j'ai réussi un examen' or "j'ai réussi mon examen" and "j'ai réussi mes études" (but it doesn't replace j'ai réussi à mes études, it replaces "j'ai réussi dans mes études" (but i don't know why)
