Sorry forgot to add the sentence... 'Dans la lutherie de Zimmermann, arrive dans cette ville avant le putsch... j'ai rencontre un inconnu...'
Really I'm just wondering if it is common to use lutherie in a more general sense? Or would it only be a lute-maker so specifically?
Here, 'lutherie' refers to the workshop of Zimmermann, the actual place.
Lutherie can mean 'the art of working with musical instrument' (something like that) or 'the place where the lute maker works'.
You can say for instance 'En lutherie, le choix du bois est important' (In luthery(?), the choice of the wood is important)
A lute maker is called 'un luthier' in french.
