Erwan's answer works, but of course there's not really "a" missing word. Does your homework not come with some attached vocab you're supposed to use for the exercise or something? If you're allowed to use "anything in French", then there are limitless possibilities:
Elle a envie de nager. -> She wants to swim.
Elle a réussi à nager. -> She managed to swim.
Elle a pu nager. -> She managed to swim.
Elle a préféré nager. -> She preferred to swim.
Elle a beau nager. -> There's little use in her swimming.
...
(Sorry, I realise I'm also just ranting about dumb pointless homework exercises...)
