1) to provoke qq - faire qq réagir or provoquer

2) i came across "Ils se sont réunis à 5 heures."  i'm told "se retrouver" is the most common.          

3) "La rue débouche sur une place. "  i would have used "aboutir"       

4) is bravoure used sometimes instead of "courage?"

5)   when is songe used instead of "reve"? 

6) is "par malchance" used instead of malheureusement

to drop someone off – déposer

are all objects i place down "poser?"  are there other uses of déposer or se poser?

both are used.

retrouvés = we speak about friends who want to have a drink somewhere. we don't know where they were before, maybe not in the same place. And they find a common place where  "ils se sont retrouvés...."

réunis = réunion, if coworkers are in front of their computers, and they want to speak about the future, they go in a desk and "ils se sont réunis"

3) "La rue débouche sur une place. "  i would have used "aboutir"   

aboutir = the place is the end of the street

déboucher = the street arrived in the place that is wider than the street, we don't know something about the end of the street or not.

    

4) is bravoure used sometimes instead of "courage?"

yes

5)   when is songe used instead of "reve"? 

it's rarely used, too sustained, except in expressions. "le songe d'une nuit d'été" "les songes sont mensonges" ....

6) is "par malchance" used instead of malheureusement 

they are not used exactly in the same meaning. malheureusement is more general

par malchance = bad luck is important in this expression

malheureusement = something happened, an accident, a problem, and why not bad luck (so in this situation, "par malchance" could be used)

7) is "le mets" used

it's special. sustained but known, but not very used. And rarely by cooks. My son is a cook and he doesn't use "mets" mais "plats".

8) ordures versus dechets

déchets is for all kind of wastes. Ordure is for home's wastes.

9) poser v. déposer
