the dictionary translates this as "for good measure."  I would say the English expression is very infrequently used, but it's possible the French version is used more often in which case I'll memorize it.  Is this heard?

You can forgot this expression, it's not often used.

However, some expressions with "poids" are used :

1) you have the expression "faire le poids" that is usually used.  More often in the negative form "ne pas faire le poids". That expression means that someone or something is (or is not) able to support comparison. (and others, I can explain if you want)

2) "avoir du poids" means that someone or something is important to take a decision.

3) "deux poids deux mesures" that means that things or  people are evaluated with difference and one of them with injustice.

4) "oter un poids" : if I have a problem and someone help me and solve this problem, I have no more this problem.  can thank him saying "tu m'otes un poids des épaules" or I can say "ce problème est résolu, ça m'ote un poids"
