Hello James and Stu,

"to wonder" gives "se demander", and "to ask" gives "demander". So :

Do i ask if we can sleep at his place ? 

Well, yes, word for word it should be I ask if we can sleep at his place but that doesn't really make sense. Since this is very informal text I just assumed that the reflexive me had been omitted.

Ah yes, I see it differently now. I think it should be:

 

Shall I ask if we can sleep at his place?
