both are used. noone is used more. It's quite individual...and depends of level of education.

There is "changer ses habitudes" too.

me: neither or neither one is used more.  depends ON level of education.  

if a more educated person prefers one, i'd rather use that.  

so use "se défaire de ses habitudes"
