La veille au soir means the previous evening.

Does 'La veille de Nöel' means Christmas Eve?
I don't find any logic here.

Yes. Or (more common) Le réveillon (de Noël).
P.S. The logic is that "la veille" means "the day before".
Or when you put a device into sleep mode :)
