Please could anyone give me a good translation into French of the term "junk food", used for foods of no or little nutritional value, e.g. coka cola and fizzy drinks, crisps, McDonald's, etc,?  Thanks for your help.

The word "junk food" is sometimes used in French but you can often meet "malbouffe" (this word designate the fact of eating junk food) or "nourriture de mauvaise qualité" (this one is more formal)
I thought  junk food was " les nourritures industrielle"

i have often heard some young people say things like :

"elle mange trop de cochonneries"  which, I think, is like saying she eats too much rubbish/junk

In this type of phrase, "cochonneries" is used for  candy bar,ice cream, Mc Donald's,... In fact this concerns all fat-products not really necessary to our alimentation.
