My father-in-law is first generation French and as a young boy, had several dogs that were always given the same name. The name is pronounced phonetically as, Baylow. How would this name be spelled in French. Unfortunately, my father-in-law is incapacitated and unable to tell us.

There does exist a word "bellot" meaning "pretty". I think that these days, it's not that common, though (a bit more like "bonny", "dandy" in English).
