Coups de bottes
This expression is used in relation to an official visit to France by the president of Bosnia. Literally it means the blows of an épee but this does not make any sense in the context in which it is used.

It just means kicks, surely? And not in the sense of I did it just for kicks but as in kicks in the arse.

Perhaps you could give the full sentence? It really does usually mean "kick with a boot", "boot up the backside" etc as far as I'm aware...

It could be the sound made by the joining boots when a soldier is told to put himself in garde-à-vous. Just guessing.
